Job Description
The Ordinary Sailor carries out work under the Bosun. He performs
cleaning, polishing of wood, brass and other metal parts, painting or
lacquering of the bridge superstructure, lifeboats, or the ship’s sides.
He follows splicing and cable repair onboard, covers the safety
roles assigned by the Safety Officer, and remains in operation at the
bow or stern, carrying out the orders from the Bosun. One of the
Ordinary Sailors is named “Pennese.” While maintaining the same tasks,
he is also used to organize, prepare, and distribute the
necessary materials for maintenance operations, as ordered by the Bosun.
